mary-kate olsen worst dressed 2007Mr. Blackwell has released his list of the worst-dressed ladies in Hollywood in 2007. While Victoria Beckham topped the list, Mary-Kate Olsen cam in third!
"YIKES! In layers of cut-rate kitsch, Mary Kate's look is hard to explain," Blackwell wrote in a press release today, "she resembles a tattered toothpick-trapped in a hurricane!"
"This past year stands out as one of the most disastrous fashion years in recent memory-as well as being a particularly eye-popping moment in Tinsel-Town where several worst-dressed repeat offenders suffered collective meltdowns."
"From pop Princesses to movie stars to "It" girls on their way "Out," this catastrophic crop of couture clowns are truly tragic in the design department. Let it be said, however, that my criticisms are based purely on their fashion flaws-I'm sure they're all wonderful people beneath the deluge of dreck they drape themselves in."

The Wackness is “Cool”

method manThe Sundance Film Festival is in two weeks (Hopefully Mary-Kate Olsen will be there!) and 'The Wackness' will have its world premiere there.
Method Man, one of MK's co-stars, recently told MTV that the film was an amazing experience:
"It's cool as sh-," he said of the film, which was directed by Jonathan Levine and also stars Ben Kingsley. "This [guy] feels his life is wack. The lead character is played by Josh Peck, and it's the story of a high school student [who's] about to graduate - that's addicted to pot. His psychiatrist is also a drug addict - that's played by Ben Kingsley. Peck falls in love with Ben Kingsley's daughter, who's also a drug addict. Peck comes for advice from his supplier, who is me. I play a Rastafarian drug dealer. I really transformed. … I hired my own coach. … The dialogue they had was so Hollywood Jamaican, it was ridiculous. The person I worked with went in and wrote it over."

Get the Look

10. ledna 2008 v 16:50 | lucibuska
Of the varied and vast hallmarks of Mary Kate Olsen's style, one aspect of her appearance remains constant-her covetable hair. The unpretentious chic of her signature long, slightly disheveled locks are a perfect juxtaposition to red carpet couture. Also, unlike some of the fussy styles we've seen on young Hollywood, Olsen's hair looks achievable. We got Matrix celebrity stylist Mark Townsend, the man responsible for this look, to explain his method for this mad coolness.

Townsend's talent needs no introduction, but we'll give one anyway. He's worked with both Olsen girls for the past five years and you might remember his work from Oscar night-do Reese Witherspoon, Cate Blanchett, and Natalie Portman ring any bells? Part of the reason he's in such demand is because Townsend keeps fashion-forward Hollywood heads looking modern and youthful, even when they're wearing very grown-up duds. "When you're wearing a piece of art-which is what these dresses are-you don't want to go over the top with the hair," Townsend says. "Mary Kate was attending the Chanel Cruise show so we wanted to keep the hair fresh-looking and give it as much texture as possible."

To get Olsen's casual waves, Townsend first applied Vavoom Gold Heat Blow-In Control Protective Serum to her damp hair. (The serum is for medium/course hair, but if you have fine/medium hair, get Vavoom Gold Heat Blow-In Volume Protective Lotion for the same results.) The product protects hair from heat tools like blow dryers, deflects humidity, and amps up shine.

Olsen has natural waves, so Townsend only dried the top section of her hair, letting the rest of it air dry while she had her makeup done. (If you have very straight hair, scrunch some volumizing mousse into your damp hair to help it along.) Next, Townsend blew out the top section of Olsen's hair with a small round brush and clipped this section aside. Using a medium curling iron, he created texture in the rest of her hair by curling random-sized sections. Not every strand was curled, Townsend left a few pieces untouched as well.

Since Townsend wasn't going for standard barrel curls, he didn't use the iron in a traditional manner (clamping the end, the rolling up to the root.) Instead, he wrapped the hair from root to end around the iron, while holding the ends in his hand (no clamping at all). He curled each section very briefly-no more than 10 seconds. Once the entire underneath section was finished, he unclipped the top part and curled these pieces away from Olsen's face. Finally, Townsend spritzed Vavoom Freezing Spray on his hands, rubbed them together, and raked them through Olsen's hair. "This gives the hair some roughness and keeps the little flyaways at bay," he said.

While Townsend used a Magic Ionic Digital Spring Ceramic Curling Iron ($120,
drugstore.com), obviously you can use whatever you own. Katherine's fond of Conair's Instant Heat Iron ($14.99, drugstore.com) and Hillary likes Hot Tools Professional Ceramic Spring Curling Iron ($28.95, folica.com). To get either the Vavoom Gold Heat Blow-In Control ($13.95) or Vavoom Freezing Spray ($14.95), visit matrix.com for a salon locater near you.

Olsen twins in lawsuit against...

17. srpna 2007 v 16:08 | lucibuska
The young twins are mad at Acclaim Entertainment, which has allegedly done a slipshod job of developing and marketing a line of videogames featuring the adventures of the young millionaire duo.

According to a lawsuit filed last week in Los Angeles and posted online by celebrityjustice.com, Acclaim has "blatantly abandoned the Mary-Kate and Ashley line and has taken the franchise of the Mary-Kate and Ashley brand in video games and has now run it into the ground".

The litigious starlets are suing the video game giant for close to $500,000 for breach of contract and back royalty fees.

And then there's the irreparable damage done to their brand name; according to the suit, Acclaim's mishandling of the video game line has created "the single dark spot on the otherwise unblemished success story of the Mary-Kate and Ashley brand across myriad media and territories."

Not that it's hurt them financially. Thanks to their tremendous marketing empire, Dualstar Entertainment, the twins are worth a reported $150 million...each. By the time they turn 21, it's estimated that they'll be billionaires.

In June, they'll turn 18, to the joy of operators of various Websites that feature timers counting down the seconds till the twins are of legal age.

Their first feature film, New York Minute, opens May 7 to the squealing delight of preteen girls everywhere. This fall, they'll head off to New York University to begin their freshman year.

Next up for the duo: live television. The Olsen twins will serve as hosts of Saturday Night Live on May 15.

Olsen Twins Invest in Cake Shop

17. srpna 2007 v 16:07 | lucibuska
Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen have developed a sweet tooth after investing millions in Los Angeles' cake shop Sweet Lady Jane. The millionaire twins have reportedly invested $2 million in their favorite bakery. It's not the bakery's first brush with fame - Sweet Lady Jane's bakers have created wedding cakes for Jennifer Lopez, Bruce Springsteen and Carnie Wilson.
Mary-Kate and Ashley are said to be so involved in all aspects of their new business, they've even started coming up with cake ideas for Sweet Lady Jane founder Jane Lockhart, according to American publication In Touch.

The Olsen twins take over their business

17. srpna 2007 v 16:06 | lucibuska
Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen decided to take full control over their business by buying out Robert Thorne, the lawyer who helped them make this all possible.

The twins offered a deal he could do nothing but accept (wonder what the amount is?) to sell his minority stake in Dualstar LLC

Robert Thorne says, I didn't want to stand in their way provided I was taken care of, as I was handsomely."

Thorne was part of Dualstar for 15 years.

Ashley Olsen said, "I am truly excited to continue the Dualstar legacy we built with Robert and work hand in hand with Mary-Kate to push the company to even higher heights."

Olsen Twins Model for Badgley Mischka

17. srpna 2007 v 16:05 | lucibuska
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are the latest celebrities to become models after shooting the autumn ad campaign for designer Badgley Mischka. The twin millionaires shot the campaign at New York City's St. Regis Hotel with famed fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon. Designer Mark Badgley says, "Ashley and Mary-Kate have an amazing sense of fashion that intrigued us. They reflect the younger, edgier and more sensual glamour that we have incorporated into our fall collection." The 19-year-olds traded their regular bohemian-chic wardrobe for glamorous gowns and jewels during the photo shoot. Creative Director Dari Marder says the designers were looking for "Modern day Cinderellas, just edgier."
The Olsens only requirements for the shoot according to Marder, were "lots of fruits and vegetables. And of course, coffee." Marder made sure when she was scouting locations that the twins favorite coffee shop, Starbucks, was nearby so they could have easy access to their favorite beverage, triple venti low-fat lattes.

Ashley Olsen stays with sister Mary-Kate

17. srpna 2007 v 16:04 | lucibuska
.S. teen movie star Ashley Olsen has canceled a trip to Australia to stay with her twin sister Mary-Kate who was admitted to hospital this week, a spokesman for the pair said Thursday, amid rumors Mary-Kate was suffering from an eating disorder.

Ashley will not attend the Australian premiere of "New York Minute" - the twins' new film - in Melbourne next week, said Robert Thorne, the chief executive of Dualstar
Entertainment Group, their entertainment empire, in a statement.

"Ashley Olsen has decided to be with her family at this time," Thorne said.

Earlier this week, U.S. magazines reported that Mary-Kate was suffering from anorexia nervosa. Anorexics are obsessed with losing weight and often exercise excessively or refuse to eat.

Mary-Kate entered "a treatment facility to seek professional help for a health-related issue," her publicist Michael Pagnotta said Tuesday, but did not elaborate.

"While it is unfortunate that plans have been canceled, Mary-Kate and Ashley appreciate everyone's support and understanding at this time. They look forward to coming to Australia and New Zealand in the very near future," Thorne's statement said.

Mary-Kate and Ashley turned 18 on June 13, assuming control of Dualstar Entertainment. They are estimated to be worth US$150 million each.

They've been acting together since they were 9 months old, most notably on the sitcom "Full House" and in a series of direct-to-video movies. They have also attached their names to a line of merchandise including clothing, beauty products and home decorating materials.

"New York Minute" did poorly at the U.S. box office after its May release.
